    Question here please. My 50 gallon tank has 8 year warranty, I'm on the 9th year. I've never drained it until now. I agitated the bottom many times and finally got the tank to run clear. Problem is inside hot water is still off colour. I live in Vancouver, BC for location. Every plumber says I need a new tank. Is there more I can do?

    At the beginning when I turn on the hot water facet initially? Do I go back and close the hot water to let it drain completely? Then I go turn it back on when it's completely drained? When I say drain I'm talking about the water heater not the faucet

    What is correct process to drain two water heaters connected in series? Also, what if each of the two tank has TWO compartments with different temperature settings? Does draining the bottom compartment automatically draining the top one?

  • @johnboynb

    Two problems. The level 2 chargers are mostly useless when travelling they take hours at 7 kw/h, and there are very few DC Fast Chargers, and most of those are only capable of charging perhaps 2 cars at a time and only at 50 kw/h. So If I want to drive from Fredericton after charging at home to Campbelton, there are about 3 charging opportunities for DC fast charging. What if those are occupied? This 65 km distance average is very misleading.

    1/3 of the electric grid still uses fossil energy and electric car batteries are horribly toxic to the environment. Not quite the time to switch to electric yet...

    • @rps1689
      @rps1689 2 роки тому

      The existing toxicity to to the environment caused by car batteries is nothing compared to externalized cost of using fossil fuel, as battery technology is improving by the year; even the recycling of batteries (which is improving) will produce nothing like the waste pumped into the commons compared to vehicles burning fossil fuel .Somebody is gonna have to clean up a much greater mess from burning fossil fuels, and it isn't the people who benefit from using the fuels. Eventually we have to upgrade all grids to DC, but first need to start working on connecting solar and wind farms to legacy 60Hx grids; this would enable suspension of new fossil developments, which is good because petroleum is too valuable to be used for gasoline, and we need to keep as much of it in the ground for our grandchildren to use for plastics, paint, etc. By that time, hopefully in 80 years, all of the old 60Hz stuff will be completely phased out. All energy sources are dirty. The responsible choice to make is the least dirty one, not the one where you get to bill somebody else for the cleanup. What is being pumped into the atmosphere represents an enormous technical debt, which is much much more than all the tax expenditures and all the subsidies by all countries to wind, solar energy and EVs. The cheapest technology that produces electricity is utility scale solar, which has a much lower impact on the environment than that of fossil fuels. Solar and wind are the best to use as a transition while phasing out the use of fossil fuels until the nuclear industry gets its act together in regards to fusion. That being said, it too early and unrealistic to think we can electrify the economy in our lifetime, but it is realistic to think we can before the end of the 21st Century.

    Too bad the high end condos and apt buildings that are new, do not have charging stations. One would think that a rental that is over 2200 a month would have some.

    Not worth buying an electric car in NB, winters are too long and it will be full of rust within ten years.

  • @JasonPrice1
    @JasonPrice1 2 роки тому

    Lies. Total cost of ownership of the vehicle, maintenance and gasoline for a direct equivalent electric is FAR lower than for electric and when the inevitable massive increases in the price of power come, then it will get even worse.

  • @JasonPrice1
    @JasonPrice1 2 роки тому

    Lies. Even a GM still saves over 50% of the massive price difference of an actual matched abilities electric equivalent over 10 years. Oh and you are failing to mention that the price of electricity will be FAR higher in 10 years.

    At ua-cam.com/video/s0iuFHzaGRs/v-deo.html, I noticed the drain port in the pan is not connected. If the water spillage is allowed to fill the pan and then simply pour out onto the floor, what was the point of adding a pan?

    • @christophermiller2075
      @christophermiller2075 10 місяців тому

      It’s in the event of a leak, like is the tank gets damaged or if the pressure safety valve goes off or starts leaking…gives you a chance to hopefully see the problem before catastrophic damage happens 👍

    • @vanguardlh9548
      @vanguardlh9548 10 місяців тому

      The safety valve can leak. In fact, as part of maintenance, it gets opened and closed a couple times to make sure it continues to seal, and water will flow out. In my case, the leak was at the top around the vent stack. The seal broke. The water rushed out, and unfortunately down the side of the tank where I mounted the speaker/battery box for the water alarm. The obstruction had the water splash off the alarm box, and outside the pan. I had also taped the manual in a pouch on that side of the tank, and it, too, filled up and caused the water to splash outside the pan. I changed the mounting location for the water alarm on the new water heater. For the pan to be effective (not spilling out onto the floor), and fabbed an adapter that let me attach a garden hose to the outlet on the pan. If the pan fills up (which it will since it holds very little of what the tank holds), the overflow goes out the hose to the floor drain. My setup is simple. I've seen others mount the water heater atop a platform, so they can connect PVC to the pan outlet to drain away the overflow. If you don't connect the pan's outlet to somewhere to drain the overflow, there really is no need for the pan.
